The Unabridged firefly
Searching for Rules to the Game
The last willow
There’s a well-house in the clearing,
You can reach the whole world from inside.
There’s a tiny bird imprisoned,
And it’s singing as it goes for a ride.
There are paths going all directions,
And there’s lots of them you haven’t tried .
And a pirate with his treasure,
Searching for new places to hide.

And there’s an old twisty passage:
Two never quite look the same.
And a battery lantern, pouring its light down the drain.
lantern
There’s a troll who’s been feeding the bears.
There’s a sign on the wall saying “Don’t use the stairs.”
And I’m searching, searching for rules to the Game.

There are anterooms to get lost in,
Keep you wandering until you grow old.
There are dozens of nooks and crannies;
Some are glittering with diamonds and gold.
There’s a bridge that you’ve created,
And there’s the kind of bridge a troll can hold.
And an egg that takes directions,
And finds its way home when it’s told.

There’s a dragon curled in the corner,
You can slay if you have courage to try.
There are secrets sealed in a clam shell,
You must work to find the right tool to pry.
There’s a figure off in the distance.
In the end you’ll find out who and why.
And a pyramid awaiting an explorer with a light to come by.

And there’s a twisty old passage:
Two never quite look the same.
And a battery lantern, pouring its light down the drain.
There’s an oyster that looked like a clam,
And I realize I have no idea where I am.
And I’m searching, searching for rules to the Game.

There’s a plant whose roots are thirsty,
And you can’t find any water to bring.
There’s an emerald sitting just out of reach,
And a vase made for Emperor Ming.
There’s a door too small to squeeze through,
’Til you drop your last material thing.
And a word that may sound hollow,
But teleports you back to the spring.

And there’s an twisty old passage
Two never look quite the same.
And a battery lantern, pouring its light down the drain.
lantern
There’s a beanstalk that’s still incomplete.
There are pottery shards on the ground at my feet.
And I’m searching, searching for rules to the Game.
